Kathy is a jewelry designer and the co/owner of a magical store in Los Angles called Roseark.  Roseark is a true oasis with the most special, vibrant, and peaceful energy.  The store is ever changing as it is also a gallery, and depending on what is going on you may find anything from sculpture, paintings, clothing, jewelry, or more from incredibly gifted artisans.  Kathy features over 200 artists from all over the world and that global, creative energy is not lost on you once you step through her doors.  She is inspiring because she is creative, warm, and has cultivated a community in her space that represents and celebrates art and beauty from all over the world.  I wanted to find out more about how this translates into Kathy's everyday life with her kids and find out more about her journey here...

Jewelry Designer

Co/owner Roseark Jewelry/Art Gallery

How did Roseark come to be?

I started designing jewelry years ago, and have always been inspired by different forms of art. Roseark was created as a forum for artists to come together and share their creative expression with the world.

The gallery is an indoor/outdoor commercialized space situated in the heart of West Hollywood. We carry over two hundred artists from all around the globe.

What do you find helps you balance being a mother and working, and how has this evolved as your kids grow?  Does it get easier or harder?

Time management..

Prepping... Being locked and loaded before they are up in the morning.. always being ahead of the game.. planning ahead.

It never happens btw.. but when it does we flow.

Yes it gets easier..

Tell us some of your most loved ways to spend the day with your clan?

Travel

Road trips

Hiking

Nature is our temple..  We hike and picnic..We talk .. Safe space.. Anyone can say anything about everything ..freedom...everyone is seen and heard. I usually apologize for being a stress ball and I thank them for choosing me.

It's a privilege to be their parent...their custodian.

What are some silly/fun things that the kids do or say?

Quinn calls me Mott.. I’m Mott.. not Mom or Mamma...just MOTT.

Because he is an Otter and I would be the Mother of an Otter...hence Mott.. I hope he calls me ‘Mott’ forever.

Saffron blows my mind with her genius.. She is a born leader.. intuitive and artistic.

What are the best and worst things people said to you when you were pregnant?

People are insecure haters...

Now I laugh but back then I didn’t have the tools.

"Oh honey are you having twins?"

"Be careful honey.. "

..fear based comments would fly out of people’s mouths!.. like did i even ask you ?!

Then the beautiful advice.. "if you choose to have a good pregnancy you will"

"drink lots of water.. the womb is like an aquarium and you want to flush it out and hydrate"

"look at beautiful images.. be in nature.. the baby will download and imprint everything"

"babies bring bounty."

That was all from my Mamma of course .. :))

What was the best and worst thing about giving birth?

Ughh.. the worst part was me! I was so stubborn and naive! I wanted to have a natural birth and thought it would be like a hard yoga class, dancing around with music and coconut oil . All my girlfriends had home births...water births...no epidurals. I thought, my baby will slide out like a turtle if I visualize...

I had a bag packed by the door with my birth plan, organic sheets, crystals and candles.

..nothing went to plan..

Thank God for the emergency C-section.

It saved me..my baby and my vagine.

What is something you wish you had known before having kids?

Discernment ..

When you were a teenager what did you dream of? Do things look different?

I never really dreamed of anything but was always dreaming..

I was moving around.. surviving.. and landed where I am today.  I have always manifested everything in the moment.. every chapter .. every lesson. From theater arts, marriage.. kids.. divorce.. jewelry.. Roseark and more..

When I look back and do inventory on my life I am thankful and blessed for everything that I have encountered and created.. dark and light.

What are some of your favorite life lessons you've grown to love? (even if learning them at the time was hard)

Not repeating the same patterns

"I can tell a lot about a person by what they choose to see in me"

..

It’s non negotiable now with whom I break bread with.. ..

I have also learned that without darkness we wouldn’t have a place to hang the stars..

That being said..

balance and discernment...

What’s ok and who’s not ok in your life.

Everyone’s masks are off ..it’s hard for people to bullshit anymore .. there’s a shift and a new consciousness now.

What do you wish you could've told yourself when you were a teenager?

Slow the F down

IMG_4012.jpg

What do you find most challenging about being somebody's parent?

They have to have their own journey and lessons

What do you want your kids to learn about the world?

People that have big egos and talk nonsense feel small and insecure.

People that hurt others don’t feel good about themselves.

They may be bullied at home by a parent or sibling.

I want them to be able to recognize the troublemakers, the shape shifting vultures so that they can vibrate them out of their frequency.

What advice would you give a parent-to-be?

Let them teach you

Listen

It's all about your energy and state of being. When you are good they are good.

I was always yelled at and in trouble.  I wouldn’t change my journey for the world.

This has been a great lesson and a gift.  I find the more I show respect to my children, the more they respect ME.

We honor each other. Nobody is talked down to.. shamed or in trouble. We communicate.

And it doesn’t always work out this way.. sometimes it’s a black hawk down.. but most of the time.. we go back to love.. we hug it out.. we apologize.. We start over.

What are 4 things you can't live without as a parent?

My friends .. a tribe of brilliant, supportive, powerful women and men who walk beside me and my children. We love and celebrate each other. It does take a village and I LOVE my village.
