What week:

26th

How big is the baby:

He is as heavy as a head of cauliflower, weighing in at 875g or 1.68lbs. His length is approximately 36.6cm, head to heel, the same size as a zucchini!

What’s something new this week:

I did tons of travel this week, flying from LA through Switzerland and on to Venice for the premiere of my film Hacksaw Ridge which screened at the Venice Film Festival, then from Venice to London through to Toronto for the premiere of my film Message From The King at the Toronto Film Festival! So it was a “back to work” kind of week which was very new for me, it’s been a while since work commitments. Baby boy still feels the same though, moving a lot, growing big, feeling kicks and punches all across the tummy now, I wonder if he is doing somersaults? I hope he is enjoying the space because sooner rather than later it’ll all be very squooshy in there and he won’t be able to tumble!

Most challenging moment:

It was very hot in LA this week, I feel pretty uncomfortable in the heat combined with my sore body from Marks crazy “Butt Blaster” workout last week. I really felt 40 weeks pregnant and was hobbling all over the place, finding it hard to squat down and put Bs shoes down, my body was aching so much, but it was that good I-worked-hard kinda pain!

Most exciting moment:

This is outside of the pregnancy really but we received a 10 minute standing ovation in Venice after Hacksaw Ridge screened, it was incredibly surreal and a complete out of body experience for me, we were all crying! It’s such a poignant and moving film, about sticking to your convictions and leading with love despite immense adversity. I was also dressed in the most incredible Prada gown too which added to the entire experience, the dress so beautifully highlighted my bump.

Sweetest Bodhi/Baby moment:

In Toronto, Bodhi was given a stuffed moose as a toy to snuggle and he offered it to the baby, asking if he would like to have cuddles with “Dooka” when baby came out of the tummy!

Food Aversions:

Fish! Shrimp only in dumpling form I can tolerate, everything else yuck yuck!

Cravings:

A pregnancy massage! and I’m getting one tomorrow baby’s 27 weeks milestone haha!

Reflections:

This week I have been reflecting on how grateful I am to be able to have life experiences such as the one I had in Venice with our film. Seeing the audience so moved and affected by this true hero story was completely inspiring to me. It gives me these moments of instant clarity and I feel so humbled to be able to bare witness to people reactions to the goodness we see in our film. I also recognize how blessed I am to have a healthy family and to be able to balance all the things that serve my soul; motherhood, telling stories that affect positive change and being a part of such loving communities as Zen Mama and Zen Life. ❤️
