Folks We Love with Trina Renea, owner of Spa Lé La
Tell us a little bit about your journey and how you’ve come to arrive here.
I started out my adult career as a punk rock singer in a band on Interscope Records. When that ended, I got out of the crazy business and did a full turn and became an Esthetician. I liked the one on one in a quiet room with people. So peaceful. I have been doing facials for 13 years at my own salon called Facial Bungalow. In 2010 I had a beautiful baby girl. Then I entered the motherhood community. It is here where I found that we are missing a very important link. That time of day when we are the most exhausted and need a break, but can’t get one. This is why I created Spa Lé La. You can bring your child, we will watch them, while you get away for a little “sanity”, whatever that may mean to you. Whether its to sit in a quiet space for a little R and R, take a bath, a nap, or have a massage, get your nails done or get a facial.
Who’s in your family? Ages? Names?
My family consists of me, my husband Patrick and my daughter Ella Blu, 6 years old
How did you choose your kids names?
my daughters name was inspired by Ella Fitzgerald. And we wanted a middle name she could use with her first. Blu was just right.
Location?
Spa Lé La, Studio City
We live in Eagle Rock
Occupation?
I am an Esthetician, Spa Owner of Facial Bungalow and Spa Lé La
What’s on your manifest board?
I don’t have a board. Its in my head. A home with a pool in Sebastopol with a barn / wedding venue, and tiny homes on the property to air b&b, all owned by our family members and parents. A place for our parents to retire to, to be close to us. Traveling with my daughter and husband to different parts of the world.
Tell us some of your most loved ways to spend the day with your clan?
Spending time resting, eating, enjoying friends and family. The water!
What are some silly/fun things that the kids do or say?
My daughter is 6. Everything she says cracks me up. She thinks she’s so mature. Cute little brain.
When you were a teenager what did you dream of? Do things look different?
I always dreamed to be a singer. And I did it. I feel satisfied that I had success enough to know that it’s not all I thought it would be. I would have never have dreamed I would be where I am today. It’s wonderful how life transforms. All I can say is do things that bring you passion, joy and happiness.
What are some things you really believe in?
I believe in GOD, positivity at all turns, finding solutions, honesty and moving forward.
Where do your passions lie?
my passions are my girl, Ella, My husband, my work, and the SPA at the Terranea Resort on the ocean – when I am relaxing.
Has your relationship with your other half changed since having kids?
We have bonded harder and gotten stronger. We are strong together. He is our super hero. I love my husband. What a dream. We have been together 16 years, married 12 and we only ever grow stronger and more solid in love.
What are some of your favorite life lessons you’ve grown to love? (even if learning them at the time was hard)
Never put your eggs in one basket, work smarter not harder! Figure out a way to make money where you don’t have to be there physically for it to happen. Be really nice and understanding to people and they will respond to you way better 🙂
What do you wish you could’ve told yourself when you were a teenager?
Don’t go for the hot bad boy. They never end up well in life. It took me 30 years to learn that.
What do you find most challenging about being somebody’s parent?
Patience. OMG. Patience
What do you want your kids to learn about the world?
Be Kind, Be Honest, Be Real, Love
Keep a positive outlook on life – don’t ever go to the negative, there is ALWAYS a solution, find it!
What are 4 things you can’t live without as a parent?
Wine,
Vodka,
Date night,
A day off to myself.
