Chemicals In Our Environment, How They Impact Pregnancy & Child Health.
Nikki Reed and I had the incredible honor and opportunity to interview Dr. Carmen Messerlian who is the Assistant Professor of Environmental Reproductive, Perinatal and Pediatric Epidemiology at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.
When approached by the Environmental Media Association about doing this interview I started researching Dr. Messerlian and her studies and found that she not only writes about and discusses the affects the environment has on fertility in women BUT also in men. To me especially in this community I feel it is so important to understand that we [women] are not alone in our fertility journey. The pressure is usually focused on us, what we are doing wrong and what we can do differently. Some of us before we even begin “trying” to have a baby, change our diets, clean up the products in our home, pay attention to what medicines we are taking and try to prep ourselves to have a safe space to grow our little ones. In Dr. Messerlian’s findings men contribute just as much as women to this process through their exposure, what they eat and their overall health.
