5 Winter Activities the Whole Family Will Love by Roni Davis

As the cool of fall shifts into the bitter cold of winter, you and your family may find it difficult to do a lot of the activities you usually enjoy. Fortunately, even as snow begins to fall and the sweaters come out of the closet, there are still many ways for your family to have some fun.

This article will outline some of the best activities you can enjoy with your family this winter. Whether it’s just you and the kids or the whole extended family gets involved, you’re sure to make some unforgettable memories. And when next winter rolls around, you’ll already have a list of ways to enjoy yourself.

Sledding
Sledding is one of the many simple pleasures of winter. Whether you have a proper sled or an inner tube, going to the top of a snowy hill and sliding down at rapid speeds is a delight for all ages. If you have especially young children in your family, they can also get in on the sledding fun so long as they sit in an adult’s lap while going down the hill. And when all is said and done, you can head inside to warm up with some hot chocolate.

Ice Skating
The pond near your house has finally frozen over, so get the ice skates out and glide around for a few hours. Whether you’re casually gliding around or practicing the Olympic routine you drew up in your head, ice skating can be a great way to expend some energy in the winter. If you’re not too keen on trusting your local frozen body of water, ice skating rinks are always a good choice, especially if there are young ones in your family who need practice.

Bake Holiday Cookies
For many people, the arrival of winter brings with it tremendous anticipation for the holidays. And one of the staples of holiday tradition is baking an assortment of delicious and colorfully-designed holiday cookies. From gingerbread to sugar cookies, there’s no shortage of delightful delicacies you can bake with the whole family.

Build a Snowman
While the snow collecting in your yard does look pretty, it also holds the capacity for great creations. Once the snow has gotten to a point where it can be effectively packed, get everyone’s snow shoes and gloves on and start building a snowman! Help any little ones move their large balls of snow on top of one another, and find whatever you can in the house to give it a face and some personality.

Decorate the House
Just because the weather may seem bleak outside doesn’t mean you can’t add some cheer to the inside of your home. Decorating your home for the holidays is a winter tradition in many parts of the world, no matter which winter holidays you observe. String up holiday lights, hang a wreath on the door, and get the whole family involved so everyone can feel accomplished in adding a little more joy to your living space.
