Week 38 Pregnancy VLOG, baby 4 by Teresa Palmer
WHAT WEEK?
38
HOW BIG IS BABY?
Average size babies this week are around 3.2kg/7lbs and I think that’s probably bang on where my little one is! The fruit size this week is a pumpkin!
WHAT’S SOMETHING NEW THIS WEEK?
Everything feels very new this week. Babe has dropped all the way down and I feel very hobbled in the way I’m walking. I’m much more tired and my body is definitely feeling like it’s coming to the end. I’ve noticed a change in the shape of my stomach as babe has moved down and the tightenings are happening every day now, they sometimes have a pinch to them but there isn’t any regular pattern to them so I know it’s not real labour, just some sporadic prodromal labour.
MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT?
I had a big cry the other day thinking about Mark leaving so soon after the baby is born. We probably only get to have him for a week and change! It seems overwhelming and I can’t help but future trip, thinking about saying goodbye and all those things. I know it won’t serve me to think about that during this time so I keep trying to take my mind off it. I know I’ll have a bunch of support from friends/family but it’s just the idea of him missing all these beautiful family moments as we transition in to a family of seven.
MOST EXCITING MOMENT?
I had a stretch and sweep today at 38 + 5 and it was somewhat uncomfortable but my midwife said I was at least 2.5cm and could get to 3 and that it’s very soft and ready up there. She thinks the baby will be here within the week which is very exciting!
Meanwhile I’m continuing my RRL tea, evening primrose oils, some hubby time, big long walks every day and the chiro and electro acupuncture work I’ve been doing. Intuitively I think this birth is days away!
STARTING WEIGHT?
116lbs/52kg
CURRENT WEIGHT?
146lbs/66.2 kg so a total of 14kg/30lbs this pregnancy although with all the hobbling it feels like a lot more!
EXERCISE?
I’m continuing to exercise every day, I went to F45 again this week which I found challenging but manageable. Otherwise I’ve been doing Emily Skye Fit workouts, and beach walks. Each day walking a minimum of 10k steps and about 8.1km/5 miles. My stamina is definitely up there which I know will only serve me on the day!
MEALS?
I’ve been eating pizza, garlic bread, chocolate bars, avocado toast, coconut yoghurt granola, salads. All that stuff and ya my health food diet went flying out the window! Gimme all the calories!!
REFLECTIONS?
Well this might be my last pregnancy blog entry, it feels really surreal to be at the end of the journey. I’m filled with such anticipation yet also I’m rattled with nerves, what will the unknown bring? Can I manage it? Am I there mentally? Emotionally? Physically? What will our daughter be like? Will she settle well? latch okay? All the questions circulating, but I know my very best friend is presence, taking each surge one at a time and knowing that through the peaks of them all I’m one step closer to having our baby in our arms. What a marvellous feeling, sitting here in this magical time in our lives. Having all the big feelings right now, so if this is it, many thanks to you all- beautiful YZM community for joining me on this journey.
