Ask for Help
Many mothers are stressed because they are trying to do everything by themselves. That is why it is important to ask for help when you need it. You can ask for help from your spouse, children and friends.
Your spouse can help you with the house cleaning and cooking. If your children are older, then you can also ask them to help out around the house. You can ask your family members and friends to pick up the children so that you can have alone time or time with your partner. It is also important for you to learn to say no. There are some tasks that can wait for another day.
Many mothers feel guilty about saying no. However, this is necessary for saving you time and stress. You will need to let your employer know that you have children. Most employers are flexible with women who have children. They understand that there will be times when you will have to take off because your children are sick or have appointments. They may also give you the option of telecommuting.
Get Organized
Life is a lot easier when you are organized. Not only will you be less stressed, but you will also save time. Many mothers find that getting everything ready the night before helps save them time. It is a good idea to pack your children's lunchesand have their clothes out the night before. If you have an infant or a toddler, then you should also have their diaper bags packed. Additionally, you should have your work bag packed the night before.
If you and your children eat breakfast at home, then you should try to prepare the breakfast the night before. Another thing that you can do in order to get organized is to put important dates on a calendar. Set aside a few minutes every Sunday to plan for the upcoming week. You have to be flexible with your schedule because things can come up unexpectedly.
Furthermore, it is important to keep your home organized. Important papers, documents, keys, chargers and batteries should be kept in specific places.
Be 100 Percent at Home and 100 Percent at Work
One of the reasons that mothers are stressed is because they bring work home. Sometimes it is completely unavoidable. However, as much as you can, resist the urge to check your email when you get home. Perhaps, you can turn off your cell phone or have a block of time where you are away from it once you are home.
Spending quality time with your children at home, can help you feel less guilty about working. You don’t have all the time in the world available to you but making some of the moments you do, quality, can ease that mental burden and facilitate connection with your kids.
Being a working mother is anything but easy. You have several things on your plate at one time. However, you can make being a working mother easier by asking for help when you need it, keeping as organizing as you can, and carving out some quality time without distractions.
